April 30, 2021 - The City of Early continues to make improvements to the baseball and softball complex and has recently seen the completion of all new sidewalks and a retaining wall that lines Field 3. This retaining wall is roughly 4 feet high and allows for the sidewalks to run together without much change in elevation.
Fields 2 and 3 have quite a different elevation difference, making walking between the two more difficult, especially for those who are handicapped. The pouring of concrete and the installation of sidewalks along with the leveling of the ground around the fields, will allow for an easily traversable space, conducive to all who wish to enjoy baseball or softball.
Once the concrete was dried, chain link fencing went up along field 3 and custom railings by Savage Saint were put up, creating an aesthetic look to the ballpark.
It takes much forethought and planning to complete large projects such as this, so the City of Early is proud to see these plans come to fruition. The City of Early is positive that these upgrades are for the good of the citizens and will encourage citizens and people from out of town to spend time outside being active. We also hope to see that the increase in the aesthetic appeal of the fields will lead to more teams from out of town, agreeing to come to tournaments hosted by Early schools and Early teams.
With the recent rains, there has been a halt with fully completing the fields. However, trenches have been dug in order to ensure that water is flowing away from the fields so that upgrades can continue quicker after rains.
The City hopes to see these fields being used by the end of May and is excited to see what other upgrades can and will be made in years to come.
